Multi Platform Client
The iSR Client is a key component of the iShareRadio platform. It works with the iShareRadio hub and in simple terms operates as a proxy to securely share radios with end users. It is written to be portable, lightweight and simplify a range of network and radio configuration challenges.
The live radio traffic is still point to point between the SmartSDR user and the Radio. The iShareRadio Hub acts as a match-maker service in this scenario nailing up the connection.
The diagram above shows one of the common use cases of iShareRadio platform with the Flex Radio and Flex SmartSDR software. The iSR Client between the Flex Radio & SmartSDR on two separate LANs and travelling over the internet (www).
- The Radio, SmartLink and WAN UPnP on LAN1 is part of the default Flex SmartLink configuration.
- The Flex Radio has been registered with SmartLink.
- The iSR Client and iShareRadio Hub interwork with Flex SmartLink to manage the remote control of the radio.
- The SmartSDR application on LAN2 is unaware the radio is remote and the end user can control and use the radio as it is on the same local network.
At no time are the SmartLink credentials or LAN1 shared with the end user on LAN2. This is entirely managed by iShareRadio removing the need to share passwords and credentials.
The iSRClient also offers advanced features such as Band, Power and License Equivalency controls.
The client is multi-platform (Windows, Linux, RaspberryPi, MacOS) with highly optimised datapath for not just radio control but also full duplex audio transmission between your computer and the radio.
