Overview of Types of Users and Accounts
iShareRadio v2.0 supports several kinds of users and accounts. Here is how they differ:
Friends and Family Host
A Friends and Family Host is a user who wants to share their radio with a few fellow hams. They do not need to set up a club, as was required in v1 of iShareRadio. They subscribe to a Starter plan, create an Offering, and invite a few people to join. If they need more than a few invites, v2 has add-on packages at a much lower price.
Club Host
Any registered member can start a club. That club is a separate entity from their personal account. The club can be managed by that user as the Owner and administrator, or those roles can be transferred to other members. Members can be assigned roles such as administrator, billing, or member.
Once a club is established, every member sees a new tab at the top right of the website for that club. Each club someone belongs to has its own tab.
When establishing a club, the Owner signs up for a plan for that club. The plan and its features belong to the club, not the Owner. The Owner does not need their own subscription plan.
Club Member Sharing
A club member may wish to share their radio with the club. To do this, they sign up for a Starter plan. Instead of sharing their radio with just a few friends, they can choose a club when they create the Offering.
Operator (not in a club)
A registered user does not need to be a club member if they have been invited by a host to use that host's radio. This case does not require any subscription and is limited only by the Offerings available to them. This is the typical operator invited by a Friends and Family host.
Operator (in a club)
A registered user may be invited to join a club. They do not need a subscription. Their operating is limited only by Offerings published by the club. Each club and its Offerings appear as a separate tab on the website. The same client (or clients) can be used for all operating.
Roles in a Club
A club member may be assigned special roles and privileges. The owner can appoint an additional administrator, someone to handle subscriptions and billing, or a special role such as Novice, which can be used to restrict Offerings to new operators. Only one account can be the owner of the club at a time, but ownership can be transferred.
